In order to be eligible for a residency, you must fit into one of the following categories listed below. *All residencies require artists to provide liability insurance which can be purchased through the City or provided by the artist through an eligible home or studio insurance policy *All residencies require artists provide proof of WHMIS training Project-based residencies are 3 to 6 months in duration.Supporting documents should be submitted with the application, these may include exhibition offer letters, grant acceptance letters, educational project descriptions, etc.
THE LIVING ART FURNITURE PROFESSIONAL
Project-based residencies are designed to support professional artists with studio access in order to realize a specific art/ design project or objective. Failure to comply with the contract at any time will result in the termination of the residency.
Monthly fees, housing and transportation will be responsibility of the artist. Resident artists must follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures. Must be able to work in a collaborative space. Resident artists are required to participate in exhibition opportunities within the Living Arts Centre and at offsite locations, biannual studio clean ups, artist meetings including critiques and RA events. Residents are required to commit to a 1-year contract commitment with the option to renew after an annual review. Expenses, housing and transportation will be responsibility of the artist. Program participants should expect to receive insight into their artistic practice, professional development, and feedback on how to become competitive in the arts industry.Supports local, national and international emerging artists, who have graduated from a post-secondary institution within the past 2 years and demonstrate dynamic artistic promise.Promotion on the website and social media accounts.Annual Exhibition at the Living Arts Centre or other offsite location.
Support of an on-site Studio Technician. Wi-Fi all utilities included, reduced parking rates. Additional storage for artwork and supplies. Shared and individual studio space (depending on the studio selected). Glass studio artists purchase cullet from the Centre. New Graduate Residencies receive a subsidized fee rate. Resident Artists in this program have opportunities to exhibit their work, participate in professional development activities, and network with other artists and arts professionals in the program and community. The program provides artists access to professionally-equipped studio spaces in the Living Arts Centre and supports artistic practices across nine disciplines. The City of Mississauga’s Resident Artist Program is designed to support emerging and mid-career artist and artisans in developing and maintaining their art and design practice.
